Everybody knows that when it comes to heating and air conditioning appliances, they require a certain amount of maintenance to keep them running smoothly. This normally means having to call somebody out to maintain your appliance, which of course also means that you are going to get a bill for it. Air conditioning repair and maintenance

The first thing to remember when it comes to air conditioning repair and maintenance is that it is never as complicated as it looks. Often you will find that if your air conditioning is doing a substandard job then it simply just needs a good clean. After all while it’s sucking in all the air it needs to cool down, it is also sucking in all the dirt and dust that comes with it.

All that dust and dirt then gets stuck in the system and clogs the fans which blow out the cold air. This means that if they are too clogged you will notice a significant drop in the quality of the air conditioning.

Doing it yourself

So now you know what the problem is, how do you fix it? You have two choices when it comes to maintaining your air conditioning. You can either do it yourself or face a hefty bill and get someone else to do it. The latter might seem tempting but seriously it is so much easier than you might think to do it yourself.

The first thing you need to do is to get the air conditioning unit open. This will normally involve unscrewing the cover, so you can see the motor and fans that are inside. It should be really easy to unscrew the front of the unit and an important tip is to put the screws somewhere safe so you don’t lose them. You will obviously need to put them back once you have finished.

After you have removed the front cover of your air conditioning unit, you will need to take a look inside. You will normally find that the main fan is towards the front of the unit. This is the fan that you will need to clean. Once you have located it, simply dust the fan off, removing all the visible dust and dirt that you can see.

That’s the basics covered; see it was a lot easier than you thought, wasn’t it? If you find that once you have cleaned it, it doesn’t make a difference, then there might be something else wrong with your air conditioning unit. If this is the case then a simple online diagnostic might help you to find the problem, if it doesn’t then unfortunately you might not be able to avoid that hefty bill.

If you have a heating and air conditioning unit, then it is important to learn how to service it yourself, after all it could save you a lot of money over time.
